Terms of Service — Sprouted
Effective date: 30 July 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the mobile application Sprouted (iOS and Android, bundle identifier com.daniel.sprouted) and related services (together, the “Service”).
By creating an account or using Sprouted, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Eligibility
Sprouted is for users aged 18 and over only. By using the Service, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old. The Service is not intended for children.
3. The Service
Sprouted is a consumer lifestyle app for plant-based and nutrition-related use. Features may include:
- Food, weight, and water tracking
- Recipes and meal planning
- Shopping lists and related tools
- Optional product analytics (consent-gated; see the Privacy Policy)
- Paid subscriptions offered through the Apple App Store or Google Play
We may add, change, or remove features over time. Some features may be free; others may require a paid subscription.
Sprouted is not a medical device and does not provide medical, clinical, or professional dietary advice. See Health and nutrition disclaimer.
4. Accounts
To use most of the Service you must create an account. You agree to:
- Provide accurate information and keep it reasonably up to date
- Keep your login credentials confidential and not share your account
- Use one account per person (do not create accounts for others without permission, or multiple accounts to abuse the Service)
- Notify us promptly at support@getsprouted.app if you suspect unauthorised access
You are responsible for activity under your account, except where unauthorised access results from our failure to take reasonable security measures.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, abuse the Service, or create risk for other users or for us.
5. Licence to use Sprouted
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to download and use the Sprouted app on devices you own or control, solely for your personal, non-commercial use.
You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, or create derivative works of the app or our content, except as allowed by mandatory law (for example, limited reverse-engineering rights under applicable EU/Dutch copyright exceptions). You may not use the Service for commercial resale or to build a competing product by systematically extracting our content or data.
6. User content
You may submit or create content in the Service, such as recipes, photos, notes, food logs, weight entries, water logs, and similar materials (“User Content”).
You keep ownership of your User Content. You grant Daniel Elsinga / Sprouted a worldwide, non-exclusive licence to host, store, process, transmit, and display your User Content only as needed to operate and provide the Service to you (for example, syncing your data across your devices and showing your logs and recipes in the app).
We do not claim a licence to use your User Content for advertising. How we process personal data is described in the Privacy Policy.
You are responsible for your User Content and for having any rights needed to submit it. Do not upload content that you do not have the right to use, or that is illegal or harmful.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose, or in a way that violates the rights of others
- Misuse health-tracking or related features in any way that violates applicable law
- Scrape, harvest, or systematically extract data from the Service beyond normal personal use, or abuse our APIs
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the app except to the extent mandatory law allows
- Upload malware, attempt to gain unauthorised access, disrupt the Service, or interfere with other users
- Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation
- Circumvent subscription, security, or access controls
- Do anything that harms other users, the Service, or our ability to operate it
We may investigate suspected misuse and take action including suspension or termination.
8. Third-party services
The Service relies on third parties, including (among others) Apple, Google, Supabase, RevenueCat, and OpenFoodFacts. Their terms and privacy policies may apply to the parts of the experience they provide — especially App Store / Google Play billing and product data from OpenFoodFacts.
We are not responsible for third-party services we do not control, except as required by mandatory consumer law.
9. Health and nutrition disclaimer
Sprouted provides nutrition tracking, recipe, and meal-planning tools for general informational and lifestyle purposes only. It is not a substitute for professional medical, nutritional, or dietary advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
Always consult a qualified healthcare provider before making changes to your diet, especially if you have a medical condition, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or are taking medication.
Reliance on any information provided by Sprouted is solely at your own risk. Nutrition outcomes and health-related decisions remain your responsibility.
10. OpenFoodFacts and product data
Barcode lookups and product information may come from third-party public databases such as OpenFoodFacts. That information can be incomplete, outdated, or inaccurate. We do not guarantee the accuracy of third-party product data. Always check labels and use your own judgment, especially if you have allergies or dietary restrictions.
11. Subscriptions, billing, and refunds
Some features of Sprouted may be available without charge. Premium features may require a paid auto-renewing subscription purchased as an in-app purchase.
Subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play, as applicable, and are subject to their respective terms. Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. Manage or cancel your subscription through your Apple ID account settings or Google Play subscriptions — Sprouted cannot process cancellations or refunds directly. Prices may change with notice as required by the applicable app store; continued use after a price change constitutes acceptance, subject to mandatory consumer protections that apply to you.
Refunds. Request refunds through Apple or Google according to their refund policies and processes. We do not process refunds ourselves.
Payment card details are handled by Apple or Google, not by us. Subscription status may be managed with the help of providers such as RevenueCat so we can unlock entitlements in the app.
Deleting your Sprouted account does not automatically cancel a store subscription. Cancel the subscription in your App Store or Google Play settings if you no longer want to be billed.
12. Intellectual property
The Sprouted name, branding, app design and user interface, and content we provide (excluding your User Content and third-party content) are owned by Daniel Elsinga or our licensors. These Terms do not transfer ownership of that intellectual property to you. You may not use our trademarks or branding without prior written permission, except as needed for normal use of the app or as allowed by law.
13. Availability and changes to the Service
We provide the Service on an “as available” basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation, or any particular uptime.
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features or the Service. Where practical, we will give reasonable notice of material changes that negatively affect your use of paid features, subject to mandatory consumer law.
14. Disclaimer of warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law — and without limiting any mandatory rights you have as a consumer under Dutch or EU law — the Service is provided “as is” and “as available.”
We do not warrant that:
- The Service will meet all of your expectations or produce any particular health, nutrition, or weight outcome
- Product data, recipes, meal plans, or other information in the Service will be complete, accurate, or suitable for your personal circumstances
- The Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or free of defects
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits warranties or remedies that cannot be excluded or limited under the law of your country of residence if you are a consumer.
15. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law:
- We are not liable for any decisions you make based on information in the Service, including diet, nutrition, or lifestyle choices, or for health or nutrition outcomes
- We are not liable for losses caused by third-party services (including app stores and OpenFoodFacts), except where mandatory law requires otherwise
- Our aggregate liability arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amounts you paid us (if any) for the Service in the twelve (12) months before the claim, or (b) €50 — except that this cap does not apply where liability cannot be limited under mandatory law (for example, liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud)
If you are a consumer resident in the EU or United Kingdom, nothing in these Terms limits any mandatory consumer-protection rights or remedies you have under the law of your country of residence.
16. Responsibility for misuse
If your misuse of the Service (including breach of these Terms or unlawful User Content) causes us loss or claims from third parties, you agree to cooperate with us in resolving the matter and, to the extent permitted by mandatory consumer law, to be responsible for reasonably foreseeable losses we suffer as a direct result of that misuse. This section is not intended to impose unfair or disproportionate obligations on consumers beyond what applicable law allows.
17. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. You may delete your account in the app (Settings → Delete account). Account deletion is an immediate hard delete with no grace period. Details on what is deleted (and limited exceptions such as store billing records) are in the Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, if we are required to do so by law, or if we discontinue the Service.
Provisions that by their nature should survive (including intellectual property, health disclaimer, warranty disclaimer, limitation of liability, governing law, and this survival statement) will survive termination.
Cancelling a subscription and deleting an account are separate actions — see Subscriptions, billing, and refunds.
18. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will change the effective date at the top of this page and, for material changes, provide notice where appropriate (for example, in-app or by email).
If you continue to use the Service after the updated Terms take effect, you accept the updated Terms, subject to mandatory consumer rules that may require additional consent or give you other rights. If you do not agree to updated Terms, stop using the Service and delete your account.
19. Privacy
How we collect and use personal data is explained in our Privacy Policy. These Terms do not replace that Policy.
20. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. If you are a consumer resident in the European Union or United Kingdom, nothing in these Terms limits any mandatory consumer-protection rights you have under the law of your country of residence.
